HEALTH PROGRAMME

INHP: Nutrition and Health Education

Experience in working with all 624 Anganwadi Centers (AWC) in nearly all villages of six blocks in the Dharmagarh subdivision and one block in Bhawanipatna subdivision of Kalahandi district, focusing on nutrition and health education.

Planning Process in Orissa Health Sector Plan (OHSP)

A total of 357 village health and nutrition micro-plans were prepared with active participation from villagers and stakeholders. A convergence model on "Data Triangulation" was established among three grassroots-level service providers:

• Anganwadi Workers (AWW)
• ASHA workers
• Health Workers of ICDS, NRHM, and the Health Department

Community Health Initiatives

Addressing health challenges in malaria-prone Kalahandi, the programme raises awareness on malaria prevention and remedial measures. Additionally, efforts include awareness campaigns on:

• Tuberculosis (TB)
• HIV/AIDS
• Sickle Cell Anemia
• Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) and Reproductive Tract Infections (RTI)
• Preventing early marriage

Activities include small meetings, rallies, trainings, and special camps.

Working with Sampurna Strategy

The strategy focuses on capacity building of frontline workers (FLW), PRI members, SHGs, and traditional community leaders on maternal and child healthcare. Achievements include:

• Increased access to preventive health services for children aged 0-5 years and pregnant/lactating women.
• Promoting practices like breastfeeding and supplementary feeding to reduce IMR, MMR, and child marriage.

Empowerment of Adolescent Girls

Special training sessions address adolescent health issues and build capacity for adolescents to raise their voices against child marriage.
