Project Name: Alternative Forms of Child Care (ACC)

Project Goal:

To ensure all children, especially those deprived in Kalahandi, Odisha, have access to a family environment that respects and fulfills their needs and aspirations.

Operational Area:

40 villages Junagarh & Jaipatna Block of Kalahandi District, Odisha.
Target Group: Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP), So far covered 180 CNCP children and families.

Key Activities

  • Financial Support to CNCP children: INR 1,000 per child per month
  • Livelihood Support: Need based livelihood support to the foster family.
  • Health Emergency Support: Vulnerable families/children.
  • Capacity building of parents: On nutritious local available food, positive parenting, life skills, child rights, etc.
  • Capacity building of adolescents: On different schemes and services meant for the adolescent.
  • Capacity building of child collectives: On child rights, life skills, importance of education, etc.
  • Capacity building of village/panchayat-level child protection mechanisms.

Conclusion:

The Alternative Forms of Child Care Project has significantly improved the lives of children and families in Kalahandi District through focused interventions, collaboration with stakeholders, and consistent follow-ups. The project continues to ensure a brighter future for deprived children by fostering a nurturing and supportive environment.
