Overview of the Project

The Rural Creche Initiative (RCI) aims to improve child nutrition, prevent malnutrition, and promote early childhood stimulation through structured care in creches. The program was officially launched in February 2024 across three Panchayats: Badchergaon, Chahaka, and Nuagaon of Golamunda block, Kalahandi district, Odisha. Currently, a total of 10 creches are operational in 9 villages.

Key Objectives

The Creche (Sishu Gruha) Initiative aims to improve the nutritional status and early childhood development of children aged between 7 months and 3 years, providing day care services for six hours a day, six days a week.

The objectives of the Creche Initiative are:

  1. To enable access to creches by all children between 7 months and 3 years in a selected geography.
  2. To ensure supplementary feeding, early childhood development, and facilitation of access to government entitlements.
  3. To identify growth-faltering, underweight, and wasted children (7 months to 3 years), refer them to a health facility, and follow up.
